At Hill Briefing, Panel Discusses Food Insecurity and 1,000 Days

By Feed the Future

On December 8, the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) hosted a lunch briefing in partnership with the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health Chairman Chris Smith.

A panel of experts, including Feed the Future Deputy Coordinator for Development Tjada McKenna; 1,000 Days Executive Director Lucy Sullivan; Edeisa Executive Director Navyn Salem; and Constituency Mobilization Manager for GAIN Adrianna Logalbo, discussed food insecurity and the critical 1,000-day window from pregnancy to age 2.

This event was part of GAIN’s continuing outreach to U.S. policy makers and highlighted the overarching issue of malnutrition, the work GAIN is doing around the world, and the new Future Fortified campaign. The audience included Member and Committee staff involved in the areas of nutrition, food security, and agriculture, and other government aid programs, including Feed the Future and the Global Health Initiative.
