Cage Aquaculture Opens New Horizons in Southern Region of Bangladesh

As part of the United States President’s Feed the Future initiative, the CSISA-BD project (Expansion of Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia in Bangladesh) has been testing a promising new technology in cage aquaculture.
 
Since 2011, the WorldFish Center has been conducting a trial program on cage aquaculture in Botiaghata with the aim to encourage adoption of short duration fish culture methods that will increase income.
 
Working with nine women fish farmers living alongside canals Aquaculture Development Officer Mizanur Rahman has supervised these trials. Each of the nine women was provided with one 9 mcage that they helped to make and set up in the canal near their homes.
