Call for Public Comment on New Feed the Future Collaborative Research Innovation Labs – Integrated Pest Management and Sustainable Intensification

USAID’s Bureau for Food Security will be holding electronic public forums in June to solicit comments on the development of two new Feed the Future Collaborative Research Innovation Labs, which will focus on integrated pest management and sustainable intensification.

The forums are part of a new effort to promote broader scientific and stakeholder engagement in the development of Feed the Future research, policy and capacity strengthening programs.

The public forums will invite comments on the research focus, human and institutional capacity constraints and the potential contributions of Title XII agricultural colleges and universities to address these constraints through collaborative research partnerships with institutions in Feed the Future focus countries. The feedback will inform the development of new Innovation Labs, and will build on the work done by the current Integrated Pest Management and Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resource Management Innovation Labs, which are finishing their second and final five-year phases in September 2014.

The integrated pest management forum will be open from June 3–7; the sustainable intensification forum will be open from June 17–21. Both forums are open to the public, and participation from the U.S. university community, Missions and their value chain partners, and other research and development partners in Feed the Future focus countries is especially encouraged.
