Research Fellowships Available in Agriculture & Women’s Empowerment

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is making available three Ph.D. dissertation research fellowships on the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index (WEAI), in collaboration with the U.S. government’s Feed the Future initiative, the United States Agency for International Development, and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI).

The WEAI focuses on women because they play a critical role in agricultural growth in developing countries, yet face persistent obstacles and economic constraints. The Index was developed to track the change in women’s empowerment that occurs as result of intervention under the Feed the Future initiative, which addresses global hunger and food security. The WEAI is also a tool for tracking progress toward gender equality, one of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Research proposals submitted under this call must be focused on one or more of the 19 Feed the Future countries.
