Feed the Future Newsletter, Issue 129, November 2023

While climate change affects everyone, its effects are not felt equally. Women farmers have different, and often more profound, vulnerabilities to climate change and face even greater challenges to adapt to the climate crisis. In addition to climate challenges, women in agrifood systems are battling economic and societal constraints as pointed out by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations’ (FAO) “Status of Women in Agrifood Systems” report released earlier this year.

We need to give the women the skills and opportunity to lead; conduct research and programs designed by, with and for women; and engage men and government leaders at all levels on the potential for all to win when women advance. In this edition of the newsletter, we explore the vital role women play in global agrifood systems and how climate presents specific challenges for them.
